Over the last few years, we’ve had the joy of working with many of the UK’s top chefs and restaurants. From custom leather aprons to branded tortilla warmers, our premium goat leather has been handcrafted into an innovative range of bespoke projects for the likes of SILO, Savernake Knives and Chef James Cochran.
Whilst designing bags and accessories is our bread and butter, working with the hospitality industry brings together everything that Billy Tannery stands for. Stopping British goatskins from ending up in landfill is our main concern. And so turning these beautiful hides into premium products for the UK’s restaurant scene brings us one step closer to completing the circle from food to leather.
One product that continues to grow in popularity is our leather menu cover. Available in any of our full-grain goat leather hides, this contemporary design can be fully customised for A4 menus, wine holders, bill presenters or an entirely bespoke request.
Recently we worked with one of London’s most exciting new restaurants to create a full line of contemporary menu covers.
Akoko: leather menu covers
Opened in early 2020, Akoko is a fantastic West African restaurant in London’s Fitzrovia. The menu celebrates ‘a culinary journey into the depth, richness, vibrancy and diversity of West African cuisine’ using the highest quality produce and creative dishes.
We were commissioned to design a whole suite of bespoke products for Akoko including leather bound menu books, bill presenters and custom coasters in chestnut brown, each elegantly featuring the restaurant’s logo.
Alongside all our leather goods, each piece was handcrafted in our British microtannery using traditional vegetable tanning. This sustainable method results in characterful leather that not only ages beautifully but boasts lifetime durability.
Ox Barn at Thyme: leather wine menus
We are also currently working with the latest restaurant at Thyme to produce a range of bespoke leather drinks menus and bill presenters.
Nestled within the beautiful Cotswolds village of Southrop, Ox Barn is a contemporary restaurant co-owned by the family-run hotel’s son and former Quo Vadis chef, Charlie Hibbert.
The nineteenth-century space was originally a large cow shed with exceptional archways and exposed beams that have now been preserved as a part of the updated interiors.
We were kindly introduced to chef Charlie Hibbert by his previous boss Jeremy Lee, a friend and advocate for Billy Tannery’s waste-free philosophy. We partnered with Charlie to design soft leather wine menu covers and bill holders in a new colour to match the elegant, warm country tones of Ox Barn. The result was ‘Forest Green’, a deep classic shade that is now one of our best sellers across our range of products.
We’re once again working with Charlie's team to produce a new line of leather drinks menu covers that will appear in Ox Barn very soon.
As well as custom designs for restaurants and hospitality businesses, we create products for both corporate and private customers. Choose customised versions of our existing range of premium leather goods or work with us to craft an entirely bespoke design.
